I really enjoy reading Urban that comes with every Friday The Straits Times paper. There are many articles that I often find it interesting and informative and will like to keep them for future use. However I have been keeping tons of papers in my room for my own fashion scrap book. So in order not to keep too much paper at home (or else will collect dust and invite insects), I decided to keep articles that I find them useful in my blog for my future reference. Thus in case you find them familiar, don’t be alarm.

Another thing that I enjoying doing is giving myself or my friends/family a face or body (not by myself) massage, to relax etc. Of course you can't expect much from an amateur. Thus I will looking up new, simple ways to improve my skills. Found some simple exercises from Urban that can help to tone and relax facial muscles.

- Inhale and tilt your head upwards. Then exhale while stretching your neck (hold for six counts while stroking the underside of your chin upwards with both thumbs). This helps to prevent double chins.

- Exhale as if you blowing a balloon. Smile, hold it for a few seconds and relax. This exercises your cheek muscles and you look happy and nice to boot.

- Tap your face slowly and lightly all over with your fingertips to stimulate blood circulation.

Always make sure your fingers and hands are clean, you don't want to have breakout after this. Also remember don’t apply too much pressure when doing the above as it will cause skin to sag. So always be gentle always. I'm sure your love one will love it. Have fun. Cheers.

Current Wish list

My face is still about the same. Lots of white heads underneath my cheeks and a number of markings left after my itch hands' damage. I also went to facial more often hoping to clear them. I stop using Kiehls Abyssine lotion with SPF 15 as it is quite oily and have gave it to my mum since she need a SPF lotion. Also I have been using Kiehls Acne Blemish Control Daily Skin-Clearing treatment lotion for more than a month. Maybe have not been using for a longer period, I don't really see much improvement on my face. I will continue using it and see how it goes.

As for my markings, I heard from my cousin Lancome's Blanc Expert Gn-White generating new whiteness spot eraser is really good so thinking of trying it but it costs SGD175 and wonder is there any samples for it as worry its suitability.

Some information I got from its website.

Product benefits
360° action at the source of stubborn spots

Efficacy tested on cells, spots and total face: After 2 months, at cellular level, skin is freed from up to 70 %** of its excess melanin. Dark spots even the most stubborn ones are visibly reduced for 82 %*** of women. A new light flows into your skin with improved, pure transparency.

** Instrumental test on 19 Asian women
*** Self-Assessments – 51 Asian women – 2 months

The breakthrough : decrease melanin production by 360° action on the melanin generating environment.
> Even at the dermis level: GN-White™ System designed to neutralize* the deepest signals inducing melanin production.
> At epidermis level: Ellagic acid and Liquorice neutralize* signals coming from emotional stress, UV and pollution.
> Salicylic acid removes dead cells charged with melanin from the surface

* In vitro tests on active ingredients

Also thinking of what moisturizers to buy next as my moisturizers are running low. Currently for day, I am using Renaissance of Switzerland's Derma Control Base sample from my beautician and night I am using Kiehls's Yerba Mate Tea Lotion sample. These few days my face are not o oily but they are all around SGD70 range. Last weekend, I was busy so didn't make use of the 20% discount for Kiehls plus I find Kiehls's product lack of fragrant, which I like. Headache. Maybe I should go home and list out what other full size or samples moisturizers I have on hand before buying new ones.

Shopping @ Bugis Street

Oh sorry for the late post. Have been busy searching for jobs so less time on blogging. Not much for my job hunting. Everything seem so quiet. Maybe the market is so bad that there are so many applicants out there. Furthermore my resume is so plain and simple, don't really stand out from the rest. But I can't exaggerate much in my resume cos when I go for interview, I can't really carry myself. Nervous you know.

Okie enough of my job hunting, last Friday evening I did went Bugis Street shopping. Went at 8plus and shopped for two hours. It was quite crowded. Mostly youngster.

Anyway I did get some stuff.

1. Black skirt with gold elastic for SGD10

2. Black earrings for SGD2

3. Strips skirt (can be wear as tube top) for SGD10

4. Work dress for SGD10 again. Cheap and good! Now I am wearing it!

5. Lacy top for SGD9. During weekdays if I am lazy, I will just wear it to work. No need to iron and can match with almost everything. Very convenient for lazy bum like me.

6. A black long blouse, I will be matching with tights. Thinking of wearing it tomorrow but I don't have a belt to match it. Wondering later shall I go Far East Plaza??? Over there, there are shops that sell very cheap belts, then tomorrow I can wear it. Haha. Anyway this top costs SGD10 again.

I also bought a black inner wear shorts for SGD7 after SGD3 discount from the shop assistant but my sister said SGD5 can get from Top 20 etc. God, get con again. Anyway total spending is less than SGD60 but quite a lot of purchase. Not bad, quite satisfactory. If you have tight budget like me and like shopping, no harm going Bugis Street to shop. You can always find great deals at there. Of course don't expect Club 21 quality but they are still acceptable to me. You can see most of the stuff I get is from the lower ranger but there are more expensive range if you are willing to spend. Sometimes I prefer this than on-line shopping as I can feel and try the clothes. Ah actually I saw quite a number of clothes that sell at on-line sites and the prices are more or less the same. However I can't remember seeing any belt stall at Bugis or else later can go get one ;P
So Bugis or Far East????
P.S. No online purchase for me...... ;P

New Shopping Site

Just get to know a new shopping site, http://wardrobe54.com/index.php?cPath=11 for bags, clothes and accessories. Find the dresses' prices still quite alright. However, I have not tried so have no idea about its product's quality.

I still thinking whether to buy a dress from there as I worry about its quality. Personally I am quite lucky with most of my purchases, still wearable. I have not really come across real bad experience but I have friends who bought online stuff and turn out to be a totally different things. I cannot remember that shopping site address or else I can share with you all.

Oh there are 4 dresses quite nice. Don't know which 1 to choose. Take a look....

Their prices are between SGD29 to SGD34. If they are quite good quality, quite worth it. For the second row first picture, my friend said don't really look like my taste. Haha. Still think which one to get.

Hope pay will come in soon so that I can go Bugis Street walk walk during the weekend. Okie decide if I didn't spend money at Bugis this week, next week will order one of the dresses. Btw if you ever buy from this site, do share your experience with me. Thank you. Cheers.

My Current Mood

Feeling sick and tire. Don't know what to write, no idea. Maybe my system is crashing. Maybe need a break. Maybe I should have get a laptop during the last PC Show. But I don't think a 14" laptop suit me. Quite heavy. Think less than 2kg is my ideal kind.

Saw Sony's laptop. Really very expensive. Maybe I should revamp my wish list.

Mango Sale

FYI Today Mango is starting its sales. Hope there are great buys. I am still thinking whether should I drop by or wait for a few days before going as it is surely very very very crowd.

Zara Bag

I find this Zara bag quite nice. Bought by my colleague and another one has ordered for it. Usually Zara's bag are quite expensive but not this, it costs SGD60. A practical bag that can hold quite a lot of stuff. However, one disadvanage of it is that the main compartment has no zip. I prefer bag with zip, more secure especially when you are travelling.

It been months since I buy a bag. Think these few months spend quite a lot on beauty and health stuff as my face is quite bad. Now is still bad. Don't know what to do with it....

My Good Friend's Motto

Today I met up with one of my girlfriends, who I known for a long time, for coffee and she told me her latest motto. That is "FOLLOW YOUR HEART AND THINK LATER". And this lead to the following......

Today she spent SGD2,500 and bought the above LV bag, which is my dream bag. Hmm sometimes I wish I can be like her......

Banana for Leather shoes

Just in case next time you need to help your boyfriend/(s) or husband or kids to clean their leather shoes (or maybe your own) and you have no idea how and what to use (like myself).

I read from a magazine that you can clean leather shoes using the inner side of a banana peel by giving it a quick rub. Wipe clean and buff with a clean cloth. The natural oils in the banana peel act as a leather polish and works for smooth leather of all tones. Slightly green banana is highly recommended as the skin will be drier and not "shed" as much as a fully ripe banana.

Hmm, I don't have leather shoes or else I will give it a try and review on it. But anyway, beside as a leather cleaner, banana is also a very healthy fruit to have. It contains carbohydrates and vitamin B that boost energy. It also contains vitamin C, A and high levels of potassium (that will help in losing weight). It also has natural fiber that may promotes healthy bowels. However, diabetic should avoid eating too much bananas as they have high sugar content.

June L'Oreal Beauty Sale

Details are (just in case not clear):

Date: 16th - 18th June 2009 (Tue to Thur)
Time: 11am to 8pm (Tue)
10am to 8pm (Wed & Thur)
Location: Concorde Hotel (formerly Le Meridien) Level 3

This information is from a colleague. I'm not too sure of the source but should be true. I seldom use L'oreal stuff, maybe sometimes shampoo and some makeup but this sale is quite near my office. Maybe will go during lunch time.

Thots

If you are on a public transport, will you ever blast loud music on your mobile phone's loud speaker???

Yesterday I actually met such a person. He was blasting his mobile phone with Madonna's song. I cannot remember which song (maybe at that time, I was too upset). His music was so loud that I can hear it even when I am listening to my own mp3. Maybe is because I'm quite near him, about a row away from him. Funny thing is he is actually sleeping.

I don't understand why there is such inconsiderate person. You may love Madonna but you don't have to share it with all of us. What are earphones for?? I wonder is it because life in Singapore is all about rules and regulations that people forget to think. I know not all people are like this but I always met such black sheep that make me so mad. Why can't we just be a bit considerate and make this world a better place to be. Ya, I know is easier to say than actual doing it. Just need to release my unhappiness and a gentle reminder for myself to be just a bit considerate to the person next to me as I hope other will treat me the same way as I am.

Home Broadband at last!

At last I applied my broadband and at this moment,I am surfing at home.

Yesterday took half day leave to the PC show at Suntec. I feel this time round is a bit smaller than the previous one. Only occupied two floors, forth and sixth floor of the Suntec Exhibition Centre. Maybe is Friday afternoon thus not very packed. Initially wanted to buy a laptop as my nephew decided that he needs the monitor back. So went around sourcing for my ideal laptop.

I always like to carry my stuff with me thus I though a 13.3inch and below size laptop will be ideal for me. I don't really like a netbook as there is no DVD drive. One of my hobby is watching show without Internet access and no DVD drive, I can't watch show! Think I will die! During last CNY, I actually carried my sister's friends portable DVD player around just to watch show even on the train. Even thought it is not really that compact and light. Or else, Acer new Aspire Timeline will be perfect for me. It only weights 1.6kg and at only SGD899 (after further reduction). However, its specification is so so only.

Anyway after much consideration, I decided to buy Acer Aspire 4736G-863G32Mn for SGD1,298 with additional 2years extended local warranty. Some of its specification are as follow:

Processor
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 (2.0 GHz, FBS 800 MHz, L2 2 MB)
Chipset: Mobile Intel PM45 Express chipset

Graphic system - Graphic Chip: nVidia GeForce G 105M

Display type: 14 inch WXGA (1366x768)

Memory: 2 GB DDR3

Hard Disk Drive: 320 G 5400 RPM

Optical Disc Drive: DVD Writer (Dual Layer Support)

Web Camera: Acer CrystalEyes 1.3M Webcam

Port & Interface
-3 USB
5 in 1 Card Reader

Connection

Wireless Lan: Intel Wireless Link 5100
Bluetooth
LAN

Battery: Li-ion 6 Cell

Weight details: 2.40 Kg.

Actually other laptop that I am looking are Acer Aspire 2930-643G25Mn (12.1", 2kg) costing SGD1,198 without extended warranty and Dell XPS M1330 (13.3", 1.79kg) costing SGD1,399 with 2 years warranty. However, their specifications are not as good as Acer Aspire 4736G-863G32Mn. Of course, Aspire 4736G-863G32Mn is quite heavy thus I wonder will it be too heavy for me to carry around. Maybe I will just stick to my iPod classic when I am outside.

Luckily I don't want to carry the laptop while applying for broadband and helping my friends to check out other things, I decided to buy it last before I go home. Ah you know at the Starhub counter, I queued for about 2 hours, just to apply my Max Online. Many are queuing for the free netbook. I didn't get the free netbook as need to apply Max online and SCV TV which cost about SGD60 per month. I seldom watch TV at home so don't want to waste such money. Anyway my registration fee is waived off and I have SGD30 Robinsons vouchers. After all is not that bad.

Then after way queuing, my nephew call and said he does not need the monitor anymore as he is buying a new desktop. Now you know why I said luckily I decided to buy the laptop last. Another thing is that Friday and Saturday prices are different for Acer laptop. On Saturday there is additional SGD100 discount on most of Acer laptop. Now the laptop I like is SGD1,198. Take a look at the picture on the right, brochure on the left is Friday's and prices on the left is Saturday's, my nephew got it today when he went down to get his desktop. I wonder will there be further reduction on Sunday??? Very curious about it. No wonder people always said last day got more special discount.

I don't think I will get the laptop cos my desktop is working well. It is quite wasteful to buy a new laptop. Hope my desktop will not die on me. Haha... If tomorrow you are free and like IT gadget, should go down to Suntec to take a look.

Thots!

Currently, there are so many things in my mind. Family, friends, life etc...

At last, a good news, I passed all my office subsidies examination papers, thus I don't have to fork out money to re-test (but I need to pay SGD300++++ for a personal professional subscription fee!!!! God!!!). Now I am wondering whether to continue to study as maybe I will not be around this office anymore.

Finally I decided to apply my own personal broadband easier to blog etc. But still deciding between home or mobile broadband. I am quite bad at making decision and no one to discuss so got to share with you all and see how it goes. Both are unlimited access.

Looking at Starhub's Plan

Home - Surflite
Not more than SGD30, cheap.
Free digital resident line but single girl like me, don't really make any call.
Need SCV point & cable long enough. If don't have must pay additional SGD160.
More stable but speed of 2Mbps.
Outside I can use free WiFi if I am getting a laptop.

Mobile - Ultimate
Not more than SGD40, more expensive.
No need to do any checking on points and cables length.
May disconnect at times but faster speed of 7.2Mbps
Can surf at anywhere.

So if you will me, which plan will you get. Must really think properly as it is a 2 years plan. Don't wish to regret. Just realised this coming Thursday is PC show so maybe taking half day leave to go down and check out any great deals. Maybe get a free laptop (must be dreaming). Actually I have no idea whether my sister needs her monitor back or not. If she needs it, I will just get a new laptop. But they are worse than me, very slow! So really don't what to do. I don't want to waste money on buying some extra gadget that I don't need. Very trouble!!! Headache. How!!!

Lastly, some freebies from my boss. One of the suppliers are giving us free movie tickets and I got two. Plus the show is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I love it. Missed the first one, hope I can make it for this as it is on a 26 June 09, Friday evening 1830 hour. However, I have no idea who to call along. Maybe just go alone, taking up two seats!!!!!!

What time shall we sleep????

Since I was young, I always sleep very late. Will not fall asleep before midnight. Now I am older and are more concern with my well being but due to long hours of working, I just try to sleep by midnight. Before 12am, even less seldom.

So when is the best time to sleep??? I read from Viva Woman, it is best to sleep before 10pm and for 8 hours till 6am. Think it is a mission impossible! Sometimes 10pm, I am still deep in my files. How to sleep!!!!

I think if in order to sleep by 10pm daily, latest by 7pm I must finish work. One hour of travelling time back home, have a quick dinner for half an hour and one and a half hour to bath, do some house chores etc.... And then then its 10pm already. Wow real tight schedule. Don't think I can make it.

Nevertheless, I shall keep reminding myself to sleep before 12am even though sleeping by 10pm is quite impossible for me. It is very important to have adequate rest. I, myself is trying real hard to sleep by midnight and get at least 6 to 7 hours of sleep or else I will feel very tire and can't function properly especially during weekdays. For weekends, the latest I will sleep is 2am and the next day I wake up at quite late. However I feel that after long night like this, even when I sleep till very late at noon, I still feel restless and tire. So it is always better to have plenty rest at night. Of course when I'm young I don't understand why my mother always ask me to sleep and wake up early. Now I know why!
Anyway I also read from a magazine, 2-4am, that's when skin's level of repair is highest. Skin cells also renew themselves three times faster during this period than around noon. For better health and skin, I MUST SLEEP EARLY EVERDAY!!!!!

Go Green

Now it pays to be green.

Shop with an eco-friendly bag at Tangs and enjoy a cash discount.

Shoppers can save 80 cents off their bill when they use a Tangs Green Effort Tote and pay 40 cents less when they use any other eco-friendly bag at Tangs Orchard and VivoCity.

No minimum purchase is required and the discount applies to every transaction.

This ongoing initiative aims to encourage shoppers to go green.

Tangs tote is available at all cashier counters at SGD5.90for Tangs card members and SGD9.90 for non-members.
My Tots: What is actually an eco-friendly bag? Is there any difference between an eco-friendly bag and a normal shopping bag. Wondering if I use a normal shopping bag, will I entitle to this cash discount. Maybe the next time I drop by Tangs, I should ask the cashier.
Maybe this year X'mas gift, I shall get an "eco-friendly" bag to each of my friends! Good idea, right!

If you compare SGD88 with its usual price, I think is pretty cheap. But you know, currently I am saving to buy my laptop. Every red hot cent is very important so I have to skip this. Maybe if I happen to find a super cheap deal massage for SGD28, I will go. My bones are breaking. :P

Daily Mood Indicator

Still feeling blues as my face is getting from bad to worse. The white heads are still there and more scars have formed due to my itch fingers.

Hoping to salvage my face, last week, I even bought Kiehl's Acne Blemish Control Daily Skin-Clearing Treatment cream for SGD50 for 30ml. It is formulated with a powerful blend of blemish-fighting Dioic, Salicylic and Lipo Hydroxy Acids, known to minimize the appearance of acne, blemishes, blackheads and whiteheads. Even post-acne marks.

Directions for use from Kiehl's website:
Cleanse the skin thoroughly before applying medication. Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer one to three times daily. Excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor. If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.

For external use only. When using this product using other topical acne drugs at the same time or right after use of this product may increase dryness or irritation of the skin. If this occurs, only one drug should be used unless directed by physician. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Texture: Lightweight cream
Aroma: Nil (One disadvantage about Kiehl's product is that it lacks of smell. Prefer with some fragrant)
Colour: White
Verdict: Still trying it and hoping that there will be visible result

However right now nothing seems to work. New pimples or acne were formed too. Now I even stop putting on makeup and I look like shit! This is how bad my face is right now. I don't ever have much mood to go out. Really hope by this weekend, things will turn better. Anyway this coming Sunday going for facial, hope my beautician will able to "save" it....... ; (
