New RECYCLE PC from WG (aka cheapskate)

Take a look at my new self installed pc donated by my bf (left) and my previous Dell donated by my sister (right). Haha.

Told you already I very budget. For the time being there is no mishap for the new pc. Hope it can last longer than my previous onw which if I did not remember wrongly is about a year. Anyway when my sister donated hers the pc, itself is already very old. It has crushed many times so you can understand why it had only last another year. I think lasting for a year is already quite good. Anyway my bf is just too lazy to check on the cause of the breakdown thus he brought his old pc for me to use.
Hope my next pc or laptop will be a brand new one. My ideal will be a lightweight laptop with 13inch screen and not bad specifications. Better stop dreaming and start saving!!! ;P

Spend $$ AGAIN and BAD Experience at Clarins!!

There goes my this month resolutions!! Last Sat (28 Mar 2009) went Orchard Road and spend $$ again.

Bought 2 pairs of shoes, almost bought another one but kana nag and nag so gave up on it. 2 pairs cost me less than SGD41 so considered quite cheap. They are from TrendyZone, actually I quite like their shoes. Most of the time they are quite soft for my delicate feet. Occasionally will have some mishap!!! Haha.. Most importantly all can wear for work, no need to waste more $$ on other shoe.

(wore on Sat, real soft materials)

(have not try, hope they are fine for me!!!)

Ah almost forget to mention the slippers I bought from Cotton-on, it almost kill me during my journey from home to MRT station on Sat which usually takes me less than a 10 minutes walk. But when my boyfriend whose feet is just a bit bigger than me, tried, he said they are quite ok. Ah so come to a conclusion my feet are just too delicate. Forget to take my feet's blisters picture. Now I do not have any slippers, thinking of buying one from M)phosis but currently no sales going on. Actually during CNY, they having major sales and the stuff were quite cheap. However it is not auspicious to buy shoes during the 15 days of CNY plus I am very superstitious so I avoid buying any shoes at all. Now guess the retail price for its slipper is between SGD15-25. Know any discount for it, do share with me.

Then I proceed to Metro, which is having 20% off between 6pm to 11pm. It was packed like sardines. The cashier queue was so long at the beauty section. Anyway this time round I had quite a bad experience at Clarins's counter. I was disappointed. My previous experience with the Clarins's staff are usually quite good. They were helpful and professional. However this time, they are not helpful and too focused purely on their sales target. I know they are busy because of the Metro sales but I was standing at the counter for more than 10 minutes and no one offer to attend me or they just allow people to cut queue. I don't believe no one saw me standing there waiting patiently for my turn, or is it because of my dress down clothes and I don't look like a potential customer to purchase. At last is my turn, I have this quite attitude and unapologetic sales person (like she is the customer) to attend to me!!! Okie just my luck. The things that make me real mad is when after queuing for more than an hour to pay for my stuff, I went back to collect my purchase. The sales person who attended to me is not around so I ask another sales person to locate my things and you know what did she said!!! She said, "Oh is Malissa's one" and does not really want to help me to look for them. It was only after I passed some remark then she just take a look at the whole chair of products. Luckily my stuff were just on top and didn't take more than twenty seconds of her time.

I was astonished by her remark. I mean come on, firstly you are not serving any customer and it will not take you more than a minute to loacte and pass my products to me as they are all in a clear plastic bag. Anyway she didn't surprise me, she didn't offer to get a Metro plastic bag for me. AH..

So what did I get at Clarins. Actually I just got Water Purify One Step Cleanser with Mint Essential Water for Combination or oil skin (SGD46 b4 discount) for myself. And help my sister to get Younger Longer Balm (SGD150 b4 discount), Water Purify One Step Cleanser with Mint Essential Water for Combination or oil skin and One Step Facial Cleanser with Orange Extract Renews Radiance for all skin types (SGD46 b4 discount). Told you my sister is a beauty freak. Worse than me. Anyway she said the Younger Longer Balm is a very popular and best seller product at Clarins. Think next time I shall try it but quite expensive le. So start saving again. Hope this week will not spend $$$$$ again.

Anyway last Sat, Metro has a promotion, spend SGD150 and more you and your friend can get its member for free. Usually is receipt of SGD500 or more to get a member card. So my sister and I register to be member ocs for member's birthday month, you will be given 20% discount at Metro. My sister's birthday is in May whereas my is in October so we have a duration of half a year to re-stock our beauty stuff or make use of the 20% discount. Haha.

Actually I not suppose to spend anymore $$$ on beauty stuff as you can see I still have many unopened beauty stuff at home but I wonder is it my current makeup remover, Shu Uemura Skin Purifier - HIGH PERFORMANCE BALANCING CLEANSING OIL FRESH too oily for me. Thus I want to alternate with another makeup remover but currently I only left with another unopened Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/O. So thinking of getting Clarins's makeup remover since I use its sample and find it not bad plus there is 20% discount at Metro. Usually Clarins has direct discount and I still have some Metro vouchers to use!!

Looking at Clarins's Water Purify One Step Cleanser with Mint Essential Water for Combination or oil skin.

Description of it from Clarins's website:

Else I can buy the remover from my beautician, I used it once not too bad but now I can't remember the brand name. It cost around SGD50 so quite expensive. Oh I managed to get my colleague's Metro cards. Yeh!!! Think will just use up my vouchers 1st, like that spend less. Can also help my sister redeem free gift from Clarins and Origins. DIY Beauty Care

After stop doing DIY beauty care for a while, last weekend I happened to pass by the supermarket and can't resist going in. End up getting some DIY ingredients such as cucumber, milk, honey etc, household stuff and snacks. Oops forget to buy yogurts.

Not to waste my cucumber, last night I did cucumber mask. It is really very easy to do it plus CHEAP!! Very important for a budget constraints girl like myself. Don't cost a lot since one cucumber costs SGD0.50 and its those Japanese one can last me over a week. Of course, a organic cucumber is better but more expensive. Can cost around SGD2.50 each. Anyway from my previous encounter with normal cucumber, it does not did any harm to my face so I will stick with it. Maybe one of these day will try organic one and see if there is any difference.

Okie I am very lazy even thought I am quite vain so I tend to look out for those most easy, simple and do not have to use brain DIY skin care receipt to follow. Okie don't laugh at me. So for this DIY cucumber mask, I just use cucumber purely and no other ingredients. Of course you can add others according to your preference but due to my skin sensitivity, I prefer not to do so.
Steps for my simple DIY mask:
Use a grater to grate the cucumber to crumbs.
Squeeze out its juice and apply it to face.
Rinse it when dry.

See it is so easy. Within 20 minutes and it is all done. Suitable for busy working class girl like me. Haha still girl.
Anyway I just saw from http://leonsbeautytipsandsecrets.com/ another simple DIY skin care method. It is using honey to keep the skin clean, soft and glowing. She mentioned taking some honey, spread it on the face, gently massage in a circular motion for a minute and rinse off. So simple. However in her post she mentioned using Manuke honey which I don't think I will use that. Even thought I totally agreed with her on all the pros of Manuke Honey but still find it a bit expensive for such usage.
Here is Singapore, a 500gm jar with at least UMF 15 can easily costs up to SGD40 or more. I will rather continue consuming water with Manuke honey every morning before taking any other stuff, which it supposes to help people like me with sinus, a kind of sensitive nose plus all other benefits. Rules for scooping honey from the jar, always use plastic or porcelain spoon as metal will destroy the honey properties. So this weekend, going to try honey facial wash.

Beside cucumber mask, I also made Green Tea for my DIY beauty care. The bag of green tea leaf has been in my fridge for sometime. Actually I asked my guy friend who happened to travel to China, to help me get green tea powder but he got the leaf instead. Guys!!! So not to waste them, I decided to use them but not for consumption as my Chinese doctor advised that it is too "cooling" for my body.

I learnt that Green Tea can be used in washing face, as toner or wet agent for clay mask.

Direction for it:
Mix hot water with green tea leaf for 10 to 15 minutes.
Leave it too cool.
Remove the leaf and store it (in glass bottle) in the fridge.

This morning I replaced it as my toner and it is very refreshing. But not too sure whether it has the same effect as toner. I also use it to relief any itchiness on my body. Quite effective. On the other hand, I not too sure how long can I keep them as there is no preservative.
Anyway at night after applying my makeup remover, I use it for rinsing. Very cooling but not too sure of it pros. Will continue using it and see whether my skin has any improvement etc.
Questions??? Feel free to comments. Got other simple DIY receipt, do share with me. Cheers....

Mineral Powder, anyone????

Here are some mineral powder to go... Actually just bought them recently for myself to try out and to find out whether I am suitable for it. But now I have no choice but to put on hold, since I am seeking new owner for my samples as well post all my others on hold barang barang. Colour I got are mainly for warm, tan and yellow base skin colour tone.

Don't know how to apply mineral powder, here are some step by step directions:

-Make sure skin is dry and clean.

-Gently tap a small amount of mineral powder onto the lid of the jar.

-Swirl your brush around the lid until the minerals are completely infused into the brush.

-Tap the brush lightly to remove any excess powder.

-Use gentle circular strokes to work in your foundation makeup along your jaw line and move inward towards the centre of your face.

-Re-apply according to the amount of desired coverage.

-You will achieve a more natural, flawless finish if you build up several light layers by repeating steps 1 to 4 again.

From whoopeekiddies.com- Each is SGD4 exclude handling and postage charges.

Main ingredients are:

Titanium Dioxide: An opaque, white mineral that is used for its light-reflecting capabilities offering a full spectrum sunshield from both UVA and UVB rays.

Mica: A common mineral that can add luster and a silky texture to a shadow or foundation.

Iron Oxides: Natural mineral pigments that give our makeup its beautiful colours as well as its long wearing quality.

Zinc Oxide: A healing mineral that assists in reducing inflammation and provides a full spectrum sunshield from both UVA and UVB rays.

And may contain:

Ultramarine Blue: A clay that has been heated to a very high temperature which is a process that was used by the Egyptians. They achieved both blue and yellow pigments using this technique.

Ferric Ferrocyanide: A synthetic, non-irritating blue pigment used to coat mica.

Kaolin Clay: A soft clay insoluble in water, used for oil-absorption. Assists in removing old sebum that is clogged in pores.

Serecite: Purified, untreated, uncoated mica.

Silica: Derived from sand but finely ground to help absorb oil and give the skin a smooth appearance.

Safe and non-toxic these minerals are free of irritants such as talc, bismuth oxychloride, dyes, parabens, mineral oil, lakes, carmine, synthetic fragrance, methylparaben, propylparaben and many other questionable chemicals.

Loose mineral foundation can be blended with your favourite cream to create a cream foundation. First moisturize as usual, then tap a small amount of powder into the palm of the hand. Add a drop of moisturizer. Blend the two products together until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved. Use your fingers or make-up wedge to apply.

1. Loose Mineral #2 (1g) - a cool, olive shade for light skin, including some Asian skin tones. Loose mineral foundation is the purest, most natural-looking form of foundation available. When applied sparingly, and with the correct brush, your face will appear flawless, yet as close the look of real skin as possible.

Ingredients: Mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, ultramarine blue, May Contain: zinc oxide.

2. Losse Mineral #4 (1g) - a medium-tan range
Ingredients: Mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, ultramarine blue, May Contain: zinc oxide.

3. Concealer #3 (1g) - a neutral shade in the light-medium skin range. It offers more coverage than the above 2 traditional foundation formula for acne and rosasea sufferers. Its feel is creamier; the finish more matte. High in zinc oxide, it is beneficial to inflamed and irritated skin.
Ingredients: zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, micronized zinc oxide, iron oxides, ultramarine blue, mica, kaolin clay.

From MomoMinerals - Each is SGD3 exclude handling and postage charges.

Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Zinc Oxide, Mica

1. Warm Medium

2. Natural Medium

Actually mineral makeup is similar to loose powder but they have better coverage. Plus they are good and natural to our skin. I have tried using it and find it rather good but since now I am taking a break from most skin care products and makeup in prevention of more white heads outbreak, when my face gets better will try them again! Really cannot wake for my face to get better. Hope my this coming Sunday facial appointment, my beautician can help me get rid all the WHITE HEADS!!!

Beauty Samples need to go, while stock last!!

Recently due to my face condition, I stop sampling beauty products and cut down on my usage of different skin care products. Thus on-hand I still got left with quite a fair bit of unopened skin care products. Furthermore not much travelling or else can use and throw. Save luggage space for more shopping goodies! Came out with an idea, will put on-line and see if anyone is interested.

These are free samples that I got, only handling and postage charges (to be advised, if interested).

1. Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/O

Cheers.

My leave on 23 March 09

It is so nice to be on leave, doing nothing especially on a Monday where all the people are rushing for work. Actually not really “nothing”. My boyfriend and I have actually planned quite a full day itinerary for today.

Morning, around 11am, we made our way to CityLink’s Coffee and Toast, to have our breakfast (don’t envy us).

Thought we could enjoy a tradition Chinese breakfast but turn out to be not really!!! We ordered two coffees, one soft bun kaya and one tradition ham cheese bread. The coffees were good as always but the breads were just soso especially the tradition ham cheese bread and it still costs SGD2 per slice.

Really do not worth it!

As for the soft bun, it is not as fresh as those from YY, which is diagonally opposite Shaw Tower, is freshly made thus they are much better and softer.

(Coffees and soft bun from YY Coffeeshop)

They are quite well known and even TV station went to interview them before so if free should go try it. However according from my ex-colleague, the service at YY is getting from bad to worse. Still no harm trying for good food.

Then we catch free Central shuttle bus service from CityHall to Central. No idea what I am talking about. There is a free shuttle bus service daily from 11am to 8.45pm either from City Hall or Raffles Place to Central. Details? Check out their website below.

http://www.thecentral.com.sg/home/index.aspx?key=gettingthere

Currently (23 Mar to 29 Apr 2009) there is a bazaar at Central’s The Gallery and the shop, ONLYaesthetics, that my girlfriend is working at, happened to take part in it so went down to take a look.
They sell hair skin care products and carry brands like Mario Badescu (skin care) and Nanogen (hair). Mario Badescu’s products are popular within the Americans and Hollywood celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron, Kate Moss and many more.

I, myself also use it’s Silver Powder that helps to remedy stubborn clogged pores and excessive t-zone oil. Used it once or twice a week, dip a water dampened cotton ball into the powder and press on nose, chin or clogged area. Let powder sit for 10 minutes then remove with toner or astringent. Often I am too lazy to use it regularly but recently due to my white heads break out, I used it on Sunday, hoping for miracles. Even thought my white heads didn’t disappear immediately, I found that my face is clearer and smoother. But I also don’t advise to use it too often as it maybe too drying for the skin. Maybe when I finish my on-hand products, will try more of its products and of course, I can ask my friend to get for me at a discount (hope by then she still with the company).

Anyway if you are interested can drop by the counter to take a look, my girlfriend is very professional and she will recommend according to you skin type and BUDGET too! Or you can check out their website, http://www.onlyaesthetics.com/ or http://www.mariobadescu.com/.

Next on our agenda is karaoke and both of us had no idea where to go as we do not frequent singing. After much ding dong, we decided to walk to Chinatown and go K-Box at Lucky Chinatown.

No choices at all, we can only take the package from 2pm to 7pm, SGD13++ per pax with 2 free drinks. With many other charges, the total bill is about SGD52 for two included a plate of mushroom ball and chips.

However, we did enjoy ourselves, singing and making a fool. As we have to proceed to our next stop, we have to leave at 6pm. What a waste. Maybe next time we will try their lunch time package. It is from 11am to 2pm cost around SGD8 or 9++ per pax with lunch. Nevertheless, current K Box’s monthly promotion is when you sign up for their lifetime membership at SGD10, you will be given vouchers worth about SGD50. As I didn’t sign up for it, so I not sure what sort of vouchers are give.

Lastly, we went home to “catch” the current HK series that was even feature in Sunday Wan Bao (Chinese evening newspaper). Later will talk more about it.

More food

After my last post, I have been thinking of all those foods that I miss. I also miss my family's weekend walk. Now we tried to stay in m...
