M•A•C Cosmetics: Isetan Exclusive Launch of Make-up Art Cosmetics Collection Sep 09
Makeup event. Hmm actually I am more interested in makeup lesson and very tempted to take up a makeup lesson from the major cosmetics brands such as M.A.C, Bobbi Brown etc. Really like to prefect my makeup skill and achieve flawless look. Furthermore registration fee is usually fully redeemable for its products. Is like one stone kills two birds.
Here are some of the lesson that are available in the market.

Receive a Starter's Kit worth SGD100 - make up of three travel brushes, a powder puff and a sponge and a SGD100 voucher redeemable for Make Up For Ever products.
Other offers are:
Bobbi Brown offers new customers six make-up lessons when they spend SGD150 and sign up to be a member. However, I am not sure whether there is any membership fee.
Shiseido customers get a free 30 minute hands-on session on a topic of their choice such as foundation, eyes or lips with any purchase.
Which class do you prefer??? I perfer M.A.C or Bobbi Brown especially M.A.C as I love the above lipstick colour. Very nude look! However, I seldom buy and need so much makeup at one go so it is rather a waste of money unless I want to buy their skincare products.
Ah let me think about it further...

CHANEL - ULTRA CORRECTION LIFT
Have not use Chanel's products for a while. Last time, people said Chanel's makeup will clog pores so I stop using it. But lately, I have a number of friends who use its products. Wonder if it its products have improved thus more and more are using it. However, this poster range is more about firming which is not my concern at the moment.
Now trying to clear my pores and scar markings. Yesterday I finally bought a trial set and some samples from Henry Tianus at Suntec City as some of its products are highly recommended by Cozy Cot. So from last night, I will cut down on the brands that I will be using. The two brands that I will be using are Henry Tianus and Kiehls and see whether they are really suitable for me before I invest more on theirs products.
Henry Tianus are naturally organic products whereas Kiehls uses natural ingredients. I will talk more on them at my next article and also my review on them. Cheers!

All about Hair!
I seldom do much for my hair. Shampoo and conditioner. Sometimes I am so lazy that I will skip conditioner. Once every three days, I will try to put hair treatment oil after my wash but as usual there are times when I will either forget or lazy on and off. Every morning I will try to use at least Kao's Premier Rich Essential Damage Care Hair Treatment water and/or apply Kiehl's Leave-In Hair Conditioner, which contains UV filter to protect hair from sun damage.
More information about Kiehl's Leave-In Hair Conditioner on its website:
This product contains a UV filter to facilitate the protection of the hair from damage by the sun. Suitable for thick, frizzy, dry, or damaged hair that tends to be difficult to manage and tangled. The nurturing treatment restores shine and suppleness to dry hair, detangles, and creates a revitalized hair appearance as it conditions. Since this treatment remains in the hair, it continues to nurture between shampoos.
Direction for using: Shampoo with the Kiehl's shampoo appropriate for your hair type. Gently remove excess water and apply conditioner throughout hair , as needed. Hair may be combed with a wide-tooth comb or left as is. Allow conditioner to remain in hair for a full-bodied lustrous and protected hair condition. This product may also be applied to very dry or exceptionally thick hair without shampooing beforehand.
Key ingredients:
Avocado Oil, derived from the fruit of a tropical American tree, is a rich, fatty-acid emollient. Avocado Oil is known to be the most moisturizing of any fruit oil. It is also a natural source of Amino Acid proteins, Vitamins A, D, E, and potassium. Helps to restore the natural moisture of the skin.
Coconut oil is an off-white, semi-solid, highly saturated fat expressed from the kernels of the coconut. It is stable when exposed to air. It lathers quickly and is a good skin cleanser commonly used in many skin care formulations. Lathers readily and softens skin.
Panthenol is a penetrating moisturizer which absorbs into the skin and hair and is converted into Pantothenic Acid, a B complex vitamin. Assists skin care products in retaining water and also absorbs water from the air, aiding in skin and hair moisturization.
Texture: Cream-gel like
Aroma: Not much smell
Colour: Off-white
Verdict: Hair will be slightly smoother after applying but every after wash, hair will remain more or less the same. Still I think it helps my hair by not getting from bad to worse as my hair texture has been always dry and coarse. I don't think I will not buy again as I find it a bit too expensive. 125ml for SGD49.
Other major issues such as styles, cuts etc, I will just leave my hair's fate in the hands of my hair stylist. The most I will tell her is my BUDGET!!!. And keep reminding her that I need a style that requires no spacial care and not easily get out of shape. Actually she seldom cuts my hair real short as she finds that ladies should have long, silky hair. So last year, don't know what got to my mind, I went to somewhere else and had my hair cut till really short. Now I have to go through the process of keeping my messy hair long again.
Early of 2009, my hair was in such a bad state that I have to always tied them back. Not to risk my hair again, I went back to my hair stylist to have a minor trim as it is really in a bad shape. Once my hair stylist saw my hair she almost fainted and after half an hour of nagging, I rebonded my hair. I don't really like hair rebonding but it is the only way to keep my hair neat. After half a year has gone, my hair still looks quite fine and now is over my shoulders. Hope by end of the year, it is long enough to be perm. At least when it is perm, the hair is meant to be messy!!!!
Hmm, what sort of perm? I don't know. Previously, I have perm my hair once. Think it is digital perm. I am quite happy with the effect as I prefer my hair to be a bit mess up. Found an article on different types of perms (maybe after reading this, I will have a better understanding on perms).
1. Classic Perm
Look: Depending on the size of the curlers (and your technician's expertise), this can be anything from soft, loose waves to tight, spingy curls
Technique: Hair is wrapped in cold paper - the term for the tear-resistant paper used - then wrapped around curlers. Curlers of a small diameter are used to create tighter, more defined curls while larger curlers create larger, loose waves
Duration: Three hours
Best suited for: All hair types
Price range (most important to me): From SGD80
2. Ceramic Perm
Look: Bouncy, well-defined curls
Technique: Hair is wrapped around ceramic curlers and heated. As ceramic is able to heat up to a higher temperature compared to the plastic curlers used in a digital perm, curls tend to last longer. It is not advisable to perm your hair too often if you do a ceramic perm as your hair may not be able to withstand the intense heat.
Duration: Three to four hours
Best suited for: Hair of at least medium length of a coarse, wiry texture
Price range: From SGD150
3. Body Perm
Look: Soft waves that give volume
Technique: Hair is wrapped around large curlers to create waves but not curls
Duration: Three hours
Best suited for: Short-to-medium length hair
Price range: From SGD80
4. Twist Perm
Look: Tight, springy and small spirals
Technique: Individual sections of hair are twisted tightly before being wrapped around small curlers
Duration: Five to six hours
Best suited for: Medium length hair
Price range: From SGD80
5. Pin Curl
Look: Subtle, looser curls compared to a ceramic perm to give texture and body to hair Technique: Cold paper is wrapped around small sections of hair to hold it in place. Each section is then twisted into a single loop and clipped up
Duration: Two to 2 1/2 hours
Best suited for: Short, limp and flat hair
Price range: From SGD80
6. Digital Perm
Look: Softer curls compared to those from a ceramic perm
Technique: Hair is rolled around heat-resistant plastic curlers and then heated. The temperature varies, depending on how much heat is needed to set the curls. The size of the curls will depend on the size of the curlers
Duration: Up to four hours
Best suited for: Hair of at least medium length of a coarse, wiry texture
Price range: From SGD150
Generally there are two basic techniques for perms, either the hot or cold perms. With a hot perm, a perm solution is applied to the hair to break its naturally occurring bonds. Then hair is set in curlers and by applying heat, this reforms the structural bonds and creates those coveted curls. A neutraliser is also added to make these newly-formed bonds last.
The two main forms of hot perms are ceramic and digital perms, giving bouncy and looser curls respectively. For Brazilian-style waves, go for digital perm. As for cold perms, chemical are added to hair to both break and reform bonds instead of using heat. It is kinder to the hair because there is no heat to damage them. Beside less damage, a wider range of curl styles can be achieve. The main styles that result from cold perms are the pin curl, twist perm, body perm and classic perm. However, the downside of cold perm is that it is not that lasting as hot perm. With proper care and maintenance, hot perms can last for up to six months or longer. Whereas cold perms can be straighten out after about three months. Wow so much information... Think better leave it to my hair stylist to decide and I just must mentally prepare to sit there for half a day!!! ;P

MOF at Raffles City
Now I am catching up with all my blogs. Actually I have always been taking tons of photos that I want to share but lately so much had happened and thus not much energy to blog. Even though still a lot of things are outstanding but I am feeling much better so here I am!!
This is a new Japanese restaurant at Raffles City Shopping mall calls MOF. It is located outside where Spinelli used to be.
After work, my friend and I went there for dinner. It is free seating and you got to order at the cashier. Quite similar to Cafe Cartel. No service charge. Anyway it was not really very crowded.
I order cold noodles.
And my friend ordered curry rice.
The food were just alright.
What we enjoyed most is its dessert!! It looked quite ordinary in the menu but it turned out to be real good!!! Value for money.
For just S$6.80, you get this.......
I think I will surely go back for its dessert. Maybe try its coffee....

New DIY Hair Colour
A new type of DIY hair colour dye by Kao. Using foam instead of cream or lotion. Seems quite easy to do as its instruction are simply squeeze the bottle to dispense foam, apply onto hair and massage into a thick layer.
Interested can check out its website: http://web.kao.com/sg/liese/product/haircolor/index.html
I will give it a try after I finish using my last hair dye colour at home as I quite like Kao's hair product. I am currently using its Premier Rich Essential Damage Care Hair Treatment water and find it quite good. It moistures my dry hair and I use it almost daily in the morning. However it is not available in Singapore and thus not much information on it. The most I found are some information in Japanese. I tried using Google translation but find its transalation quite funny, do take a look: http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&js=y&u=http://www.kao.com/jp/essential/esl_rich_treatmentwater_00.html&sl=ja&tl=en&history_state0= .

STOP sex trafficking of children and young people
If currently you are looking for a hand cream and have no preference on brands, why not get The Body Shop's Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream (75ml) at SGD19.90. This is to bring awareness of sex trafficking of children and young people as HUMAN TRAFFICKING is the 3RD largest and fastest growing criminal industry in the world.
Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream is a protective hand cream that has a non-greasy formula, leaving hands moisturised and silky soft. Infused with soothing angelica extract to help soften the skin, and fragrant citrus notes keeps skin smelling fresh.
Most importantly all profits from the sale of the hand cream will be donated to local campaign partners the National Committee for United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) Singapore and Humanitarian Organisation for Migration Economics (H.O.M.E).
If it is within your means, why not get one for yourself or your love ones to promote this good cause.
Jurlique
Jurlique, a skincare brand that I will like to give it a try very much. Always happened to read some of its products' review but find it quite expensive. A travelling size of 4 products is around SGD110, that's why till now I have not get hold and try them. Plus my skin condition is much or less the same, whiteheads all over my cheeks.
So I wonder shall I attend its workshop in September on how to protect and achieve beautiful skin through the use of unique home facial techniques. Actually it is in line with my own beauty philosophy. So should I attend it??? Will think about it. If you are interested in home facial techniques or in its product, you should try too attend it as door gift worth SGD30 will be given. All you have to do is RSVP: 6488 8706 or Jurlique@luxasia.com.
My Daily Mood indicator
Today is really a bad day. Feel sick and tire. Cannot wait to go home and rest.
Anyway I happened to check my email and I received an email from Ion Orchard that I can go and claim an exclusive goodie bag from them (something to cheer myself). Think I joined its mailer.
And you know what, the goodie bag consists of vouchers and freebies worth up to $400. Wow!!! Really wonder what is inside. Cannot wait to get hold of it. I wonder today do I have the energy to collect it as today is the first day of collection plus only 500 bags are available and while stock last.
Will see how my day end and whether my condition get better.........
PS if i collect it, will share what is really inside the bag...

Green tea for you???
DO you know 28% less breast cancer risk if you drink two or more cups of green tea a day.
But my Chinese sinsei said green tea is too cooling for my body. Maybe I shall try to have a cup of green tea every alternate day. A challenge for myself.

Ang Pow for Singapore's market.
When I reach this age, I have attended so many wedding celebration for friends, colleague, relatives, ex-classmates etc. Often I will wonder what to get or how much ang pow (red packet) to give to the couple. Giving too little is something I fear as I know trying to get marry especially in Singapore is pretty expensive. Example a hotel wedding dinner for ten can easily cost SGD1K. So I will hope my gift will help a bit.
Recently, I received a friend's email on such ang pow estimation and I thought it is quite useful. Anyway I hope he is not hinting to me that I have given too little for his wedding. Thus I decided to share just in case you often wonder such question in your mind and too shy to ask your friends.

My Daily Mood Indicator
Recently I have received an unpleasant comment from someone which I have already deleted since that comment is really quite depressing to look at. Nonetheless, thanks for reading my posts and giving me your thoughts about them. Such a comment also makes me feel more appreciative towards some other commentors on my blog who are really encouraging... thank you!
Initially I was quite upset with his/her comments but after thinking through, I really think that I should not. I would rather spend my energy on some other stuff since that person does not know me and is probably commenting based on what he/she thinks he/she knows. Oh, and he/she probably just had a bad day.
And is confidence really such a basic thing to have? Maybe to some, it is really taken for granted. But to some others, it takes courage and time to recognise that they are lacking in it and start to work on it.

RESOLUTION
I know half of 2009 has passed and here, I just begin to think of my resolution. Really a slow starter. Actually I seldom plan for my new year resolution. Even if I do plan them, most of them cannot be met or half way I just give up, cannot stick to it.
However, after trying to recall what I have been doing for the past seven months in 2009, I notice that I did not have any achievement such as complete a studies, some volunteer work etc, at all. Last year at least I started blogging. All these while, I only work, sleep, eat and do other misc stuff. Okie, luckily at least I been to China in April 2009 and of course, spent a boom. Usually I will try to travel at least once to a place I have never been to and also to relax. Really got not much life, just live day by day. No goal, nothing.
In fact, there are many pending items that I will like to accomplish such as my fashion scrapbook, better skin condition, healthy lifestyle (weekly exercise), flea stall for second hand stuff, change of job, settle down and many other more. Guess they are just too difficult for me. Till now, none are obtained. Suddenly I remember I accomplished a item, that is applied broadband but I have not tidy up the wiring (sigh, only half way through it).
Oh the more I think about it, the more I am getting depress. Better cheer up. Must think of something (even if it is very small) to make myself happier. Okie since the above items seem so difficult to accomplish, I shall come out with a (only one, easier to achieve) new agenda for myself. Hmm.......
That is to have a makeover for my room. Guess based on my posted pictures of my room, you can see how untidy my room is. They are still the same. I am getting my idea from Ikea, lots of boxes which I have always love it. Of course, I will not buy all sort of boxes from Ikea as by now, you should know I am a budget girl. I will try to re-use the boxes from my office, hope they will be able to fit in my book shelves (must start bringing them home). The most I will is to get the clothes box from Ikea, the cheapest I saw is SGD4. Currently I am using Watson cloth bag for my clothes but as they are clothes and soft thus it is not really that practical. Quite difficult to get my stuff.
As a result, task(s) for the week is to:
- sort out all my loose paper (keep or throw) and keep them in a box
- keep all disc in a box
- another box for misc items
- sort out my wardrobe
I think the tasks are more than enough to fill up this week. Will keep you update with my doing. Wish me luck. Cheers.

Recent purchases
My makeup is running very low, looking for cheaper alternative than my top two favourite that are Renaissance's Soft Nutri Cleanse (SGD44 for 250ml) and Clarins's Water Purify One Step Cleanser with Mint Essential Water for Combination or oil skin (SGD40 for 200ml, btw I can no longer find this in Clarins's website, wondering whether they have phase this product, oh my god!!).
In the end, found a product call Plante System Cleansing Lotion And Make Up Remover 200ml at Changi General Hospital's pharmacy. It costs SGD29.90 (After buying, saw this product at Watson which I can have 3% rebate for POSB card).
Description of it: This micellar water facilitates make up removal and cleanses impurities from the skin, while preserving skin lipids. The combination of active ingredients has a more effective action on the skin; raspberry extract provide the soothing and sebum regulating properties, the extract of chamomile softens and the P.E.S plant complex derived from sea-buckthorn, green tea and olive tree has natural regenerating and anti-free radical properties. Skin is make up free and cutenous barrier is preserved.
Use direction: Apply morning and evening to the skin with the aid of a cotton pad and cleanse the entire face. No need to rinse.
Currently, trying it and will give a detail review after a few more try.
Finally I bought Cetaphil's Oily Skin Cleanser (after many years of wondering whether to buy or not). It costs less than SGD18 at Tampines Polyclinic. But now http://www.mypharmacy.com.sg/ (a virtual pharmacy of Changi General Hospital) is selling at SGD15.74 but there will be a delivery charge so guess is about the same. Plante System Cleansing Lotion And Make Up Remover can also be found at the site but same selling price. Have not try Cetaphil's Oily Skin Cleanser but once I try it, will write a review on it.
Description of it: Cetaphil oily skin cleanser removes surface oils, dirt and makeup without leaving skin tight or overly dry. It is non-comedogenic, so it won't clog pores and rinses clean without leaving any irritating residue.
This product contains: Purified water, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate (and) PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Acrylates/Steareth-20 Methacrylate Copolymer, Glycerin, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Masking Fragrance, Panthenol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA
Use direction: Massage a small amount onto wet skin. Rinse.

Next on my wish list is moisturizer, still thinking what to buy.... As my face's condition is still about the same so really need a lightweight kind.
5 Confidence Boosters
Frankly speaking, I got quite a low self esteem. Very shy and always cannot seem to find the right words to say especially toward stranger.
Read in a magazine on tricks to boost confidence. Do not know whether will they work but no harm trying...
Confidence = making yourself more "visible" - so people can see and recognise your talents.
Try the following tricks:
1. When faced with a crisis, ask yourself how you have coped with such matters in the past, and tell yourself, "I will cope again."
2. Focus on what you love in your relationships, not on aspects that you hate.
3. Avoid touching your face when speaking to someone as it makes you look ill at ease.
4. Walk tall -your actual height is irrelevant. (My friend always says, a woman in high heel always look much wonderful as she fills with confidence!!!)
5. Smile. This helps your body release endorphins that provide you with energy that's linked to confidence.
Not sure of yourself, like me. Why not give this a try. Maybe it will make us feel happier..... Cheers...
